Ever take stock of the patterns and items you collect over time? I realized I happen to like many things floral… Who knew?

A gift of Mor Belladonna soap from my friend Angela. I can’t seem to bring myself to open it and ruin the pretty packaging. Come to think of it, she also bought me the cute soap dish with silver flowers from Anthropologie. I hope she isn’t hinting at something…

My Great-Grandma’s vintage floral rhinestone ring placed with a white floral tray (from Target, shhh) that I use to hold my perfumes.

Another Anthropologie fav… These are almost exactly the same ones but in a brighter yellow-gold color.

White flowers from the mixed bouquet from my husband for Valentine’s Day. I always separate the colors. Does that mean something?

I gave these pretty floral candle holders a home when my mom was trying to get rid of a bunch of randoms stuck in a closet from the 80’s. I am not a huge fan of tapered candles but these tea lights work great.

What do you have multiples of without even noticing?

I’ve been working on decorating our master bedroom since well, when we moved in almost three years ago… I did a few things and let it sit because I couldn’t make any decisions. Been there? I finally took the leap in November last year and found my design style. I think I had such a hard time because I like many different styles but I realized I didn’t have to choose just one as long as everything in the room makes me happy. I would say the look mostly falls into the Hollywood Regency and Romantic Bohemian categories. I’m going to share the final room once I’m finished with the last few projects.  As we speak, I’m giving our dresser and nightstands a little face lift. I’ve never liked them but can’t spend the money right now to buy the new set I really want. So in the meantime I’m workin’ with what I got. The idea to do this came to me when I couldn’t fall asleep one night but I always like a little inspiration from finished projects to bring my imagination into focus. Here are some beautiful dressers that helped me wrangle in my thoughts.

Check back this week to see my before & after dresser update! OK, I guess that means I better finish… =)

Now that I’m consistently baking and trying not to poison my family with dinners, I found  it to be a pain to drag our iPad or laptop over to the kitchen for recipe ingredients and instructions. We all know I have a slight obsession with boxes… I made another just for my recipes.

Supplies:

– Craft box (I found this one at Michael’s)
– Painter’s tape (3M ScotchBlue™ painter’s tape works great and they were lovely enough to send complimentary samples)
– Spray paint
– Acrylic paint
– Medium and small paint brushes
– Acrylic spray
– Patterned paper
– Printed recipes sized for your box
– Glue, scissors, tape measure, pencil and screwdriver

How to:

Step 1

Remove all hardware. Apply painter’s tape to create straight lines and to avoid getting spray paint on places you don’t want to.

Step 2

Spray paint your color of choice. I used Krylon Primer in white. Once dry, remove painter’s tape.

Step 3

Paint remaining sections of the box. I chose a pretty Robin’s Egg blue and a metallic gold color.

Step 4

Choose patterned paper that will be used as the backing for your cut out recipes. Measure the inside of the box and cut the size appropriately. For this specific box, I cut 5″x2.75″ sized rectangles. Type, print and cut out your favorite recipes then glue to the patterned paper.

Step 5

I wrote out “Recipe Box” in pencil before painting then went over it in this deep pink called “Razzle Berry”. Once dried, I used an acrylic finishing spray by Mod Podge to give it that extra shine. Replace hardware.

Done!

How do you like to store your recipes?

Getting my office space set-up has taken me longer than I originally anticipated. To move it along I decided to get the storage and shelving area organized. I am proud to say that I am actually working in there for most projects but I still do most writing at my dining room table… Baby steps. I purchased draperies, still need a proper work table and at some point new flooring. I’m also playing with the idea of either painting or wallpapering the wall behind the shelves to add a little more excitement. Opinions?

I am still feeling most inspired by this office from my Office Inspiration post.

I pulled out the empty Tiffany & Co. blue boxes that I kept from wedding gifts we received to achieve a pretty blue and white color combo.

As far as the other items used, I tried to use most of what I already had. I ended up only purchasing 4 gray patterned paper trays, a damask print container and two clear containers all for under $25 from Target. The glass dish which I’m using as a business card holder was from my recent thrift store run. Everything else was from what I already had.

{pretty vintage glass dish for business cards}

{got to have a place for spray paint}

{I collect empty wrapping paper rolls in hopes of using for a future project}

{future crafting items including one for next week!}

Tomorrow is my baby boy’s 1st birthday. I think I had been partly in denial about this until Wednesday night when I sat down to write him a letter. It was a great experience to think back over the past year, really year and 9 months, and write down everything I felt. Yes, there were more than a few tissues by my side.  Noah won’t be able to read my letter for quite sometime and I hated the idea of putting it in a box waiting to give it to him. So I decided to take my time to write it as neat as possible (I have horrible handwriting) and frame it for his room. I think it will be a daily reminder to me about where we started and to appreciate Kairos moments when they happen. Kairos is a fantastic new word that I learned while reading an article that my friend shared called, “Don’t Carpe Diem” written by Glennon Melton of momastery.com.  A hilarious and heart-warming read for new and veteran parents alike.

It seems I know so many beautiful pregnant girls right now. I can’t help but give them odd bits of advice from baby books to pajama brands. However I always mention to get support from other moms. I joined an amazing group of first-time moms back when Noah was 12-weeks old and now many of the ladies I met have become such an important part of my and my son’s life. I hope to be friends with them forever. Samantha, Rachel, Gili, Alicia, Martha, Karin, Terrie, Stephanie, Cat, Tannaz, Kannie, Staci, Kristine and Jaime. I don’t know how I would have made it though the first year without them… You guys are the best!

To my husband Mitch, you are the most amazing daddy and husband in the world. I love you so much. I also have to mention the love and support from our friends and family. Noah, Mitch and I are so lucky to have you all in our lives.

Off to put goodie bags together for the party! =)
