I’ve been waiting for an opportunity to break out my new Kuhn Rikon Cookie Press that I received as one of my holiday gifts from my hubby. He says this is him supporting the blog. Works for me. =) I plan on making cute little Valentine’s Day cookies next week but since it’s a new tool I figured it was best to give it a little test drive.
This was a day where I got to make cookies just for fun and dress them up to go to a little tea party. I let my girliness shine with all it’s glory as it is usually a little tamed. Usually. Enjoy!
This is the Vanilla Spritz Cookies recipe that came with my cookie press
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter at room temperature
1 cup granulated sugar
1 egg
2 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
1/2 tsp. ground cardamom (I did not have this so I substituted equal parts: cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice)
1/2 tsp. salt
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, sifted
♥ Preheat oven to 375 F.
♥ Combine butter and sugar in large bowl. Using a mixer set on medium speed until light and fluffy.
♥ Beat in egg, vanilla extract, cardamom (or substitute) and salt. Using a spoon, stir in flour until well mixed.
♥ Use a cookie press (follow instructions included in your press), cookie cutters or just roll dough into small round balls and slightly flatten; place cookies 1″ apart on ungreased baking sheet or silicone baking sheet. I highly recommend Silpat.
♥ Bake until lightly golden brown. The recipe says 10-12 minutes but my oven only required 6-7 minutes so keep a watch on those cookies.
♥ Allow to cool on wire rack. Decorate. Serve.
♥ Makes about 4 dozen cookies.
Now for the fun part! Gather all of your lovely decorating items. Last weekend after brunch with Noah, Mitch bought me these amazing Luster Decorating Pearls by Williams & Sonoma. We could both spend way too much money in there… He cooks. I bake.
I know. You so want to be joining me for tea and cookies right now. ♥
